OVERTON TOWNSHIP -- Troopers are investigating a homicide in Bradford County.
State police said Harry Mitchell, 50, was found dead in his home in Overton Township, near New Albany, around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
Officials said Mitchell was last seen Sunday around 3 p.m.
Friends of Mitchell say they found the man's body in his home.
A neighbor tells Newswatch 16 he went to check on the victim, found a door to his home wide open, then saw the body. The neighbor says he heard a gunshot coming from the area of the home Sunday night.
"That stuff up here doesn't happen," said David Meyers. "The only reason people have guns up here are to shoot deer and bears and turkeys and all that. You don't shoot people."
State police have not said how Mitchell was killed or if they have any suspects.
Friends say the victim recently moved to Bradford County from New Jersey.
