Monday night February 6th, 2012 the Dunmore Lady Bucks improved their record to (18-2) with a win over cross town rival Old Forge. Last season's run all the way to the state championship game at the Bryce Jordan Center on the campus of Penn State University was a memorable one for Dunmore..thrilling wins in state play and one final push past Distict 2 foe Mid-Valley in the Eastern Final was a classic. And now Dunmore is back for more in 2012.
The Dunmore Lady Bucks are chasing another district title and seniors Alexa Gerchman and Courtney Murray are helping lead the charge. The two seniors provide experience. While underclassman players like Molly Burke, Megan Connors and Kayleigh Semion provide depth.
"The underclassman are doing a great job. Their all very talented and their working hard in practice and doing what they need to do and their helping us every single game." said Alexa Gerchman.
"We're on a really good run and we're just trying to get better each game. What's it like playing for Coach O'Brien? It's really fun he makes the game fun and he makes us better every practice and every game." said Kim Dempsey.
Dunmore's four state playoff wins last season included one over fellow District 2 foe Mid Valley. The Spartanettes and Bucks delivered a classic in the eastern final.
"What was that run like last year for you? That run was great we we're very excited about it and it just was great." said Courtney Murray.
"It was a lot of fun. It was most enjoyable because the players to see the expression on their faces and the experience that they got from that run all the excitement that was generated in the community. It was great to be part of that." said Ben O'Brien.
So far Dunmore has two losses on the season one to Abington Heights and another to Holy Cross. Losses are not a concern, getting better is and getting back to states.
"We're fortunate here in Dunmore where we have really talented players who work extremely hard, who come from great families, and their really easy to coach. Our goal is to try to get a little bit better each day at practice-each and every game. Whatever that results going to be at the end of the year we'll be happy we gave our best effort at each practice and each game." again said Ben.
