LUZERNE COUNTY -- With Easter just a week away, egg hunt season is in full swing.
5000 eggs were scattered on and around Public Square in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday morning. The Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association hosted the fifth annual hunt. Eggs were filled with candy and toys. There were also special prizes for each age group. The Easter Bunny arrived by fire truck and took pictures with kids.
"You can get kids out and socialized and have fun and see what different experiences you can have with different holidays," said Courtney Allabaugh of Plymouth.
Children were swimming at the Pittston YMCA for a different kind of Easter egg hunt. It's the fourth year for the event held in the Y's pool.
"I'm not sure whose idea it was, but i thought this is gonna be crazy and ever since then it's always been a blast." said Joseph Bailey, who lifeguards at the YMCA. "Every single year there's been more and more kids coming and they always have a great time."
After the annual egg dip, children went for a swim and enjoyed some snacks.
