$60 million in federal funding is set to be spent throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania. Here's the list of projects

Federal funding bills totaling $1.66 trillion signed into law by President Joe Biden this month contained nearly $60 million earmarked for 58 projects in 16 counties of our Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania viewing area.

Millions of dollars are set aside to replace bridges, widen broadband access in rural regions and prepare the rails for the return of train service between Scranton, the Poconos and New York City’s Penn Station.

Millions are also set aside for area emergency responders — from construction of a new training facility in Schuylkill County to the purchase of vehicles and body cameras in Luzerne County.

Newswatch 16 went through the plans included in the final appropriations bills to provide a listing of the projects, the amount allocated and the identity of the recipient.

The descriptions of the projects were gleaned from the requests for funding made by the lawmakers who secured the money.
