Saint Joseph's Center fall sidewalk sale | Jeremy's Journeys

Whatever you're looking for, you will find it among the more than 3000 items up for sale at this Saturday's St. Joseph's Center Fall Sidewalk Sale.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Are you looking for a brand-new futon or a new set of Halloween costumes for the kids?

How about some Christmas decorations?

Jeanie McDonald, a Saint Joseph's Center auxiliary volunteer, says many of their toys, luggage, shredders, puzzles, and games are brand new.

Whatever you're looking for, you will find it among the more than 3000 items up for sale at this Saturday's St. Joseph's Center Fall Sidewalk Sale.

Jo Ann Verduce, Saint Joseph's Center Director of Development, says, “The community really comes out and delivers so many wonderful donations. They share their treasures with us.”

Jeremy had a chance to tour the warehouse where these treasures are stored, and all the items for sale are donated throughout the year.

McDonald does much of the work behind the scenes, diligently planning and preparing for the sidewalk sale.

McDonald told Jeremy, “I have a team of volunteers...a fabulous group of people that dedicate a lot of time. They come over every Wednesday and Saturday night and price. And we try to keep up with it all year round.”

Close to 100 people work together to organize the sale, including volunteers from the Dunmore Fire Department and the University of Scranton Rugby Team. They help move large items and set them up for the sidewalk sale.

Everything is "priced to sell."

McDonald said people say they can ask for more on the price tag, but the Saint Joseph’s Center is grateful for every dime it receives.

Verduce told Jeremy, “The proceeds from the day and also from the summer festival, and all of the donations that come into St. Joseph's Center. We are so grateful to the community. Whether you are donating Christmas decorations, you're coming and buying Christmas decorations, or you're supporting us in any way, we are so very grateful. And all of the money stays right here at Saint Joe's, and they go to benefit all of the center’s needs, to our residents and clients.”

McDonald says the sidewalk sale is from 9 to 12 this Saturday at Saint Joseph's Center Blakely Street Campus on 320 South Blakely Street in Dunmore. The center is right across the street from the CVS, next to the Dunmore Fire Department.

And it's here that you'll likely find your next treasure while supporting a worthy cause.
