Check It Out: Greenley's BBQ

Newswatch 16's Chelsea Strub gets a lesson in cooking with fire and wood at Greenley's BBQ Barn in Eaton Township

WYOMING COUNTY, Pa. — The Members of the Greenley family take  BBQ seriously in Wyoming County.

"We try to get creative because like you said you see a lot of pulled pork brisket chicken," explained Olivia Greenley.

Which you'll find on the menu here at their spot in Tunkhannock, but Liv's father, Jim has taken BBQ to another, award winning level.

"It's inspiring because i feel like he tries something new every day, every day is a new adventure for him in his mid-fifties," said Olivia.

Jim says it all started while they were working long days on the farm.

"And every time someone would get married or have a graduation party or a funeral they'd say, 'Jim could you make your pork or do your brisket?' And we were still milking cows and cutting timber and um I guess that's where it started."

To Check Out how it's all done, Jim invited us to Greenley's BBQ Barn in Eaton Township and gave us a lesson in all things cooked with fire and wood.

With a clean surface, a sharp knife and gloves on, we first get a lesson in smoked salmon, followed by pork loins, crab mac and cheese, filets, burgers and more.

Sometimes my curiosity comes off a little creepy??😅Tomorrow night we check out some of the secrets behind awarding-winning Greenley’s BBQ 🏆🔥

The timing of each of these meats in the smoker, the seasoning and the techniques are homemade.

"All of our original recipes come from me or generations in our family," said Jim.

In October you can experience all this and more when Greenley's is set to host a BBQ tournament to benefit Camp Freedom and area fire companies. Whether you want to compete, judge or enjoy, you can find more information on Greenley's Facebook page by clicking here.
