PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Editor's note: The above video is from Sept. 19.

Wawa has taken the crown for the best convenience store, thanks to customers' love for the chain across the U.S.

In the Convenience Store Study 2024 conducted by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), a randomized selection of customers ranked different convenience store chains on a scale of 100 points.

From March to September, different factors were tested for each like convenience of hours, store location, app quality, app reliability, mobile order pickups, food service-based qualities and more.

Wawa scored the highest with an 82/100 as hoagies were Wawa's biggest draw. Wawa also ranked in first place for customer satisfaction in the Northeast and second in the South.

“Convenience stores are no longer just a quick stop for gas and snacks — they are becoming serious competitors in the food service industry,” said Forrest Morgeson, associate professor of marketing at Michigan State University and director of research emeritus at the ACSI, in a press release. “The top-performing convenience store brands are now on par with fast food chains in terms of food quality and variety, offering customers a wide range of fresh, gourmet options. By focusing on the in-store dining experience, while maintaining the speedy service that customers have grown accustomed to, convenience stores may have found the perfect recipe for success.”

The study showed convenience stores like Wawa and others were also exceeding fast food establishments on scores of cooked food quality, only trailing by two points.

The top 10 scores of convenience stores are as follows:

1. Wawa (82 points)

2. QuikTrip (81 points)

3. Buc-ee's (80 points)

4. Murphy USA (80 points)

5. Casey's General Stores (79 points)

6. Sheetz (79 points)

7. Kwik Trip (78 points)

8. BP (77 points)

9. Cumberland Farms (77 points)

10. Speedway (77 points)

Wawa opened its first Dauphin County location on Sept. 18 in an effort to expand across Central Pennsylvania.
