A newly released study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has linked a rare strain of salmonella to bearded dragons.

Two outbreaks have left dozens of people sick in the U.S. and Canada.

The CDC says the lizards naturally have salmonella in the gut which can end up in their feces and then their skin.

Experts say owners should wash their hands after handling the lizards.
