BEAR CREEK, Pa. — This week's 16 To The Rescue features Rocky.
"We should make a little trophy side on his kennel that says, 'most improved,'" said volunteer Taryn Talacka from the SPCA of Luzerne County.
It has been almost a year, but since Rocky has been living at SPCA of Luzerne County, he has shown rescue workers how amazing he is.
"They're not familiar with this environment. It's loud. People are coming in and out of your kennel. Rocky though, although he came in and he was fearful, he had to learn how to interact with other dogs. He has made such amazing improvements," Talacka said.
Now, this 2- or 3-year-old pit bull mix is ready to be adopted. Humane officers rescued Rocky and brought him to live at SPCA of Luzerne County in July, so rescue workers do not know much about his past, but they know how much potential he has to make a family happy.
"We're really hoping to find him a great forever home. An active family would be great for him. He's a very active boy. We would love to see him in a home with adults who understand the pit bull breed, and we're also asking for no children under the age of 12 because he does get a little rambunctious. He is energetic, so he would do great with an active family," said Talacka.
For as energetic as he is, he also loves to cuddle. Despite his size, Rocky has no problem getting right on top of his person's lap. He also apparently loves giving kisses to the camera.
"He's extremely friendly. He has no behavioral issues that we are aware of anymore. He loves to go on walks. He loves belly rubs. And he does love to 'sploot,' as we say. He likes to lay down and stick his legs out back," Talacka said.
And Rocky showed us his so-called 'sploot' almost immediately after we met him, showing us how much he loves the position. Rescue workers say if you adopt Rocky, your family will be complete.
"O,h my gosh, to have Rocky? So Rocky is one of our volunteer favorites here. We just absolutely adore him. He is just such a lovely, wonderful boy. He has the best pitty smile." said Talacka. "Any family would be so lucky to have him."
