Pinky and Sarah | 16 to the Rescue

In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a pair of old lady dogs looking to find a loving home where they can spend their final years.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a pair of old lady dogs looking to get adopted together - to find a loving home where they can spend their final years.

"We'd love to see them go together because we feel they bring each other comfort. They just need somewhere comfortable to finish out their life," said Michaella Brady, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

Pinky and Sarah have been living at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Lackawanna County for about a month. Rescue workers believe they have lived together for most of their lives, but that is really about all they know about Pinky and Sarah. Their owner fell on hard times and lost his home.

"Just that they were living in a homeless camp down in Scranton and they needed a place to go. Here is a better option than that," Brady said.

Pinky and Sarah are senior dogs and are pit bull/mixes. Rescue workers say they would consider them getting adopted individually, if that is what gets them a home more quickly, but they would prefer they go together.

"A perfect home for them would probably be someone someone older, more laid back, someone who doesn't do too much activity but is still looking for a good companion," said Brady.

Rescue workers think they would do fine with kids, too, and get along with other animals, both dogs and cats. Pinky is probably about 12 years old.

"So Pinky is very sweet. She is very happy go lucky, she just kind of goes with the flow, she gets a little confused sometimes and needs to stand there and take a break to remember what she was doing," Brady said.

Rescue workers thought Sarah would need a little time to get used to the camera, but she warmed right up. They think she is probably about 13 or 14.

"Sarah is definitely the leader of this group. She is very confident, very sweet. She barks at first, but she gets over it very quickly," Brady said.

Pinky and Sarah have some lumps and bumps but rescue workers say that's just because of their age, and they aren't a concern. These girls are just ready to spend their final years in a loving home.

"They're both very happy go lucky, very go with the flow. They'll adjust easily into pretty much any household," Brady said.
