HONESDALE, Pa. — In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet Minnie.
"Minnie is small but mighty. She struts around on her little 6-inch legs with pride," said Linda Gambone, Dessin Animal Shelter
Minnie is a Bulldog, probably mixed with something else, but rescue workers at Dessin Animal Shelter near Honesdale say if you know and love the Bulldog breed, Minnie is the perfect girl. Minnie gets the zoomies for about 90 seconds total and then is done with exercise for the day.
"And then she'll just come and sit in your lap. She is a perfect couch potato. If anyone is looking for a couch potato to hang out with, she's your girl," Gambone said.
Minnie was a stray, so there is not much known about her past, but she is probably about 3 years old. Rescue workers at Dessin say Minnie makes them laugh all day long; their favorite thing about her is when they open her kennel for the first time and her warm 'hello.'
"She'll just smother you with kisses and jump in your lap and run around and then settle in really nicely," Gambone said.
Rescue workers say Minnie would do fine if her family is out at work all day. She will be happy to cuddle as soon as you get home.
"She's not so good with other animals, so we're hoping she can be the only pet. Definitely no cats for her. No female dogs. She might do well with a larger male dog, but I think we'd rather see her as the only child," said Gambone.
Minnie could go to a home with kids, but they should be older. Minnie was rescued back in March, and rescue workers can't figure out why, 4 months later, she is still here.
"She's affectionate, fun to be around, very easy dog. She is easy on the leash, you don't need a lot of space for her, small backyard is fine. She just needs just a little tiny bit of exercise and then she is your couch potato," Gambone said.
