Michael and Abraham | 16 To The Rescue

In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a pair of cats rescued from a hoarding situation with more than 20 others, but these two should stay together.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Michael and Abraham need each other, and more importantly, they need a forever home.

The two cats have been living at St. Cats and Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo in Scranton since January. They were rescued from what rescue workers call a horrific hoarding situation. They say considering the conditions they were found in, they cannot believe how sweet and friendly Michael and Abraham are.

"They really do come up to the front of the stall for attention, which you don't always get from hoarding situations. And also, they're just really bonded to each other. They will chatter amongst themselves. They'll meow to each to kind of know where they are, so they are very sweet to each other, but also to people," said Katrina Organ, St. Cats and Dogs of Nay Aug Zoo.

Michael and Abraham's personalities are a bit different, but together they bring out the best in each other.

"They both do like attention. You will see Abraham at the front of the cage more often and once he kind scopes it out and decides it's OK, Michael will often come up behind him and be like 'alright, this seems OK,'" Organ said.

Rescue workers don't know exactly how old they are, but they're likely both young adults. Pretty quickly after being rescued with more than 20 other cats, volunteers decided Michael and Abraham should stay together.

"It is really fun seeing them play together and chatter to each other. You would just love to know what the conversation is, right? I think they'd also be playful with a family." said Organ.

Michael and Abraham should be pretty easy to place. All they need is a family's love and attention they were missing before they were rescued.

"Not too many cats, just because when you've had to fight for food that can be pretty traumatizing. We don't anticipate any issues with children. They may be a little skittish around dogs, again, just because of that traumatic environment," Organ said.
