SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — We are checking back in with an old friend of 16 To The Rescue. We featured Billy back in July 2021 when he first came to live at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
Rescue workers say Billy has had some interest since then, but it has never worked out because of other pets in the home. Billy needs to be the only one. But as far as people go, no one is a stranger to Billy. He immediately loves everyone he meets.
"He just wants love; he just wants a friend. He will be your one and only. He is literally so sweet, so kind, so loving," said Cameron Pontier, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
Billy came in as a stray, so rescue workers do not know much about him. They don't even really know his breed. They say he is a true mutt, but he's likely got some pit bull in him. Billy cannot contain his excitement when he is outside.
"He loves to play fetch. He loves his treats. He just makes you smile. You can't really be sad when you're around him," Pontier said.
Billy has been living at Griffin Pond for more than half his life. It has been about 3 years now, and he is likely around 5 years old. That is why rescue workers wanted to feature him again; they think the right person is out there to work with him and give him the life he deserves.
"He used to be bad on the leash, if I'm being totally honest. He's come a very long way. He's gotten a lot better with his leash manners. He'll need a little bit of work still, but not much," Pontier said.
Rescue workers say Billy would love a fenced backyard but does not need one. All he needs is someone looking for a best friend.
"Maybe they have kids, maybe not; I think he'd be fine either way. As long as they're aware: He's big, he's strong, so if he jumps up, they have to be aware of that," said Pontier.
