16 To The Rescue: Weasley

In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a 2-year-old cat who rescue workers say is the shelter's greeter, and they have no idea why he gets overlooked.

MONTROSE, Pa. — In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a 2-year-old cat who rescue workers say is the shelter's greeter, and they have no idea how he keeps getting overlooked.

"He's just, I don't want to say, the perfect cat because there is no perfect animal, but he is pretty close. He's a lover boy. He's just very sweet," said Linda Lee with True Friends Animal Welfare Center.

Rescue workers at True Friends Animal Welfare Center near Montrose are excited to feature this sweet boy for this week's 16 To The Rescue. His name is Weasley, which makes rescue workers laugh, but they say the name fits his personality.

"He loves pets, he loves snuggles, he just loves to be around you. He'll rub against your ankles, your legs. You can almost trip over him," Lee said.

I realized that right away; it was almost hard to even take pictures and video of him, because Weasley just wanted to be so close to me. He came from a pretty bad hoarding situation, so now that he is living in a warm environment and has food and treats of his own, rescue workers at True Friends think he is just so thankful, which is why he's always so happy and friendly.

"He's our greeter, people come in. He's right at the door, he's in a tower, and he's ready to greet people. They go to him. I'm really surprised there has been no interest because he is so friendly, and it's a 'here I am, come see me!'" Lee said.

Weasley has been here since the summer. Rescue workers think he needs the right family to see this, but Weasley should be a relatively easy place.

"Good with people, good with cats, we haven't seen any reaction to dogs from him. He looks at them but doesn't hiss, so I think he'd be ok."

And that is why Weasley can go pretty much anywhere.

"Any home, he'd be great in any home. Family, individual, couple. He's a great cat," Lee said.

If you would like to meet Weasley, you can find his adoption information by clicking here.

It's also 'Empty the Shelters' right now at True Friends, so Weasley's adoption fee is just $25 until next week, Tuesday, December 17.

You can also support Weasley and all of his cat and dog friends this weekend at Doggone Meowy Christmas. True Friends Animal Welfare Center volunteers are hosting their annual Christmas fundraiser this Sunday, December 15, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Montrose VFW. There will be a yard sale, cookie sale, vendors, and basket raffles, all to support the animals of True Friends Animal Welfare Center in Susquehanna County.
