DICKSON CITY, Pa. — In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet two cats who have become bonded after everything they have been through.
"It was a multi-rescue effort; we all chipped in, we took these two guys, and they have blossomed with us, so they are more than ready for a forever home now," said Katrina Sonnenberg, Animal Care Associates.
Reggie and Biscuit were just two of the many cats rescued from the same situation late last year, what volunteers who saved them called 'horrible conditions.' They were all living outside, abandoned and malnourished with fleas, ticks, and worms. Now Reggie and Biscuit call PetSmart in Dickson City home.
"Originally, when they came, they weren't quite sure what it was like to live in a home. I don't think they ever had a home. They did obviously have some kind of human at some point because they weren't nasty at all. They were scared," Sonnenberg said.
Reggie and Biscuit are probably about 2 years old, they are being fostered through Animal Care Associates a foster-based rescue in Lackawanna County.
Rescue workers were not originally going to call them a bonded pair, but since Reggie and Biscuit have been at PetSmart for a few months now, they have really become best friends and, ideally, should stay together.
"Since they have been at Pet Smart, they have been sharing confined quarters, and even though they have options to lay apart from each other, 9 times out of 10, you're going to find them snuggled up together. They're either spooning together or facing each other," said Sonnenberg.
That is why rescue workers would like to see them get adopted together. Reggie and Biscuit can also go to a home that already has cats and even calmer dogs. They are good with all people, too.
"Initially they were just so scared and broken, we turned them around. They're so social now, they love people. Reggie steals treats from the cat in the cage next to him," said Sonnenberg.
Reggie is definitely the more outgoing one; Biscuit is more of a snuggler.
"Biscuit is a little more shy, a little bit, but not drastically. He warms up pretty quick, too," Sonnenberg said.
And together, they bring out the best in each other. If you would like to meet Reggie and Biscuit, you can find their adoption information by clicking on their names.
