16 To The Rescue: Paxie

In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a young adult cat rescued by a good Samaritan after being found injured as a stray.

BEAR CREEK, Pa. — In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet a young adult cat rescued by a good Samaritan after being found injured as a stray.

"I just love that she gives you kisses. She seems grateful to have been rescued," said Nancy Derwin, the SPCA of Luzerne County.

Paxie is probably about one or two years old and lives at the SPCA of Luzerne County. Rescue workers picked her to feature on this week's 16 To The Rescue because she was already given a second chance when rescued as a stray and now needs someone else to take a chance on her.

"Paxie was brought to us on September 5. She was brought in by a good Samaritan to Northeast Referral Hospital with an injury. She stayed in our clinic for a while. It was on her stomach. She's doing quite well. We don't know what happened to her. We have no idea," Derwin said.

Paxie did need stitches but is healed now and ready to be adopted. She was in the hospital for about a month and has been on the shelter's cat floor for a few weeks now. She is adjusting really well, so rescue workers think she'll be an easy place; she would be happy pretty much anywhere.

"I would say a home with some activity. She's very curious, she's always looking around, she's likes to walk around the cat room, check everyone out. I think she'd be fine with kids," Derwin said.

But Paxie doesn't play much with toys, although that could change in a home. She just likes being with her people and, of course, giving kisses. Paxie is good with other cats but would need to be dog-tested.

"I think she can adjust to any situation. Being that what she went through, and she's still so loving and sweet," said Derwin.
