16 To The Rescue: Noelle

In this week's 16 To The Rescue, we meet Noelle, an Akita/mix. She is high-energy and needs a family that matches that and knows the breed.

SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — In this week's 16 To The Rescue we meet an Akita/mix named Noelle. She is high-energy and needs a family that matches that, and one that knows the breed.

"She has so much love to give, as you can tell. She just wants to love and love and love—that's all she wants, and that's what she deserves," said adoption coordinator Jodie Salansky of Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.

And now Noelle is looking for a forever family to give her all of the love and pets and butt scratches she wants.

Noelle is probably about one or two years old and has been living at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter for about six months. Rescue workers have no idea how or why she is still here, other than the fact that her breed is a bitter harder to place.

"Very high energy. She is an Akita, so definitely an experienced owner is needed. She is semi potty-trained, but definitely has some learning to do, but she's just an absolute gem," Salansky said.

Noelle came in as an owner surrender. Her previous home had a lot of kids in it, and she is great with them and really all people. Rescue workers would love to see her go to an active home that matches her high energy.

"She loves the outdoors. She loves running and playing, possibly with another dog; she loves other dogs; she likes to play with them, wrestle, everything like that," said Salansky.

Rescue workers would love to see Noelle go to a home with another dog, but that's not necessary, and there are no cats for this girl. Noelle is doing really well at Griffin Pond, considering the circumstances, but rescue workers say she has a bit of nervous energy here.

"Being in a kennel this many hours a day is very hard on a dog, so she is a little bit of a troublemaker in that aspect of so much energy, and she just wants to go and go and go," Salansky said.

But rescue workers say that nervous energy goes away when Noelle can really get outside and play. Rescue workers love Noelle and her quirky personality, but this is what they love most about her...

"Her smile. She'll run up to you with a big happy smile just so excited to see everyone," said Salansky.
