"It's good to know what to do with water,"- campers learn all about H2O at the Wonderful World of Water Camp

For more than a decade, campers in Lackawanna County have had the chance to learn about the importance of water.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — It's all about H2O at the Valley Community Library in Peckville as more than a dozen campers spent the week at PA American Water's Wonderful World of Water camp.

"They've learned about the water shed, they've learned about the water cycle, and they've learned about their impacts," said Susan Turcmanovich  from Pennsylvania American Water.

"It was interesting to see how the rocks stopped the water from coming down not as fast as where the rocks weren't," said Maya Flores of Scranton.

From small scale models to lessons about conservation, Pennsylvania American Water staff has taught children from across Lackawanna County about the importance of water and the environment it flows through at this day camp for more than a decade.

"This age they are going to go home, and they are going to talk to their parents, and they are going to tell their siblings, and they might actually yell at their siblings for letting the water run when they are brushing their teeth," said Turcmanovich.

"I like the activities and learning about the water," said Hannah Walsh of Peckville.

This was her first time at the camp. An experience she plans take from the library and implement back home.

"It's good to know what to do with water so like you don't waste the water, and you have a lot of water to have," said Walsh.

This was the last of two Wonderful World of Water camps this summer.

It is offered for free to children of Pennsylvania American Water customers.
