"Remember, if you can't stop in, smile as you go by! " is the motto of the Peanut Bar and Cashew Lounge in Carbondale. Home and Backyard had the chance to not only stop in, but sample their cuisine and that really left us not only smiling but pleasingly full! The Peanut Bar has been a family owned and operated staple in Carbondale since the 1940s. The Moran family has been running it since the early 1990's. It is the oldest and longest running bar & grill in Carbondale! Owner and Chef Michael Moran takes great pride in the history of this beloved establishment. The front of the building which has the classic vintage giant peanut man sign is the Peanut Lounge serving all the traditional casual foods and pizza. In the back, Michael also created an addition called The Cashew Lounge a clean line modern vibe dining experience with an eclectic menu fit for the most discerning foodie!
When we visited, Chef Moran showed us how to prepare his Fried Burrata Cheese With Vodka Sauce appetizer. He also shared with us his Fish Tacos, Steak and Cheese Spring Rolls and tender and juicy roasted chicken. The Peanut Bar and Cashew Lounge not only offers their popular traditional bar food menu but also their Cashew Lounge menu too plus handcrafted cocktails, and proudly boasts to offer the "best beer selections in the area."
