PA Dutch Chicken Pot Pie By Red Lion Café Not Your Ordinary Pot Pie

Made From Scratch And Mouth Watering

PINE GROVE, Pa. — When you think of chicken pot pie you think of a pie shell filled with vegetables and chicken and then baked.  The Pennsylvania Dutch version is made in a pot!  We visited the Red Lion Café in Pine Grove where they prepared a thick creamy Pennsylvania Dutch chicken pot pie with homemade noodles and vegetables right from the farm!

They also prepared an amazing pumpkin pie with farm fresh pumpkins and hand crafted crust from scratch.

The Red Lion Café menu is filled with hand crafted dishes and desserts made from scratch right on the premises, including all their buns, breads and dinner rolls!  It's one of those restaurant gems where you can experience home cooking while dining out.

The Red Lion Café first opened its doors around 1930 in this original 3 story building. Ray Morgan Sr. and his wife Minnie ran a one room country store selling groceries, gasoline and kerosene.  Over the years the family had transformed it into a restaurant and continues to be owned and operated by the same family!
