'Burn the Jukebox' performs in the backyard for Newswatch 16 This Morning

Local rock group Burn the Jukebox joined out morning crew in the backyard Friday morning to play their song: Hello World

MOOSIC, Pa. — Viewers of Newswatch 16 This Morning were treated to a concert in the backyard...as Burn the Jukebox performed some of their original songs, including Hello World.

You'll be hearing Hello World a lot more on Newswatch 16, as the band is allowing WNEP to use it. Ethan Cutillo, one of the bands singers and keyboard player told us how Hello World came to be.

"I think it's just a fun, uplifting song.  I think we all, when Carter and Luke taught the rest of us the song, Virginia wrote some great lyrics for it, we structured it out nicely and we all had the same kind of vision."

It's hard to believe, but Burn the Jukebox is made up of high school students!  Virginia Franks, Carter Dennis and Luke Vanchure started playing together when they were 11-years-old.  They reached out to area piano teachers to find a fourth bandmate. Lead vocalist Virginia Franks told us how they found their final band member.

"We're like, do you guys have anyone who would be interested in playing keyboard and singing in a band?  That's how we found Ethan!"

The band has been together for almost five years.  They started playing cover songs during the pandemic...and curently have more than 3.5 million followers on social media! Luke Vanchure the bands guitarist told us how the ride so far has been a surprising one.

"I didn't think it would be this far at this time.  Maybe later on, but we got here pretty quick.  I'm actually surprised and it's awesome."

Virginia added how cool it is to see fans jamming out to their original works.

"This year I have seen more people than ever that actually know all the words to our originals.  It's just like so cool!"

Burn the Jukebox continues to get more popular...and these 17-year-olds are still in high school! Ethan told us how balancing school with the band has been going.

"I'll do some homework in another class to get it done ahead of time just so I have time that night to write a song or something, but it's worth it.  It's definitely worth it."

In fact the band is heading to Hollywood next week to perform...and release their new song, Deviant. Drummer Carter Dennis is excited to head out west.

"It's going to be amazing. We've done Las Vegas and that was amazing and we got the call that we could do a show in LA and I was like yeah!"

So what's next for Burn the Jukebox?  The band says more original songs, more traveling, and of course graduating high school.
