Eve Hernandez joined the Newswatch 16 Sports team in July 2024 as a multi-skilled journalist and fill-in sports anchor.
Eve began her career at WTOK in Meridian, MS, covering sports in East Mississippi and West Alabama. During her time in Meridian, she covered top sports programs like Alabama football and Mississippi State baseball, as well as local sports.
Eve graduated from the University of Georgia in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a Sports Media Certificate from the Carmical Sports Media Institute at UGA.
Through the Carmical Sports Media Institute, Eve got the opportunity to cover various sports at UGA and in the Athens area. From the back-to-back national champion Georgia football team to Georgia softball to Athens high school sports, Eve contributes her career success to her mentors and professors at Georgia, who guided her through those coverage opportunities.
Originally from Michigan, Eve is excited to be back in Big 10 country after spending the beginning of her career covering the SEC.
When she’s not working, Eve enjoys spending time watching her favorite sports teams and learning the X’s and O’s and technical aspects of her favorite sports.
