COAL TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A fire badly damaged a home in Northumberland County.

The fire sparked at the place near Shamokin around 8:00 Sunday night.

Flames were seen shooting from the roof of the place in Coal Township.

Officials believe the house is vacant.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion but is expected to be okay.

Crews had to battle the flames in freezing temperatures Sunday night.

Authorities have not said what sparked the flames.
