POINT TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A man who was swimming with friends in the Susquehanna River Sunday afternoon went under the water and never resurfaced, authorities say.
Donte Glasper, 19, who has resided in Milton and Mount Carmel, died from accidental drowning, according to the coroner.
The Northumberland fire chief said Glasper jumped off a dock into the West Branch of the Susquehanna River near Northumberland. His friends say they saw him struggling after he jumped in. They tried to save him but could not. That's when the call was made to 911.
Dive teams from as far away as Harrisburg were called in to help with the search.
The body was recovered after about three hours not far from where he went under.
