FULTON COUNTY, Indiana — Three children were killed in a crash Tuesday morning while waiting for a school bus in Fulton County, Indiana, according to WRTV-TV.

The crash happened at about 7:30 a.m., near the intersection of State Road 25 and CR 400 N, according to Indiana State Police.

Four total students were hit, according to Indiana State Police. Three were killed, the fourth was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital.

The three students who were killed were from the same family, according to Indiana State Police. The fourth is not related.

The children killed were 6-year-old twin boys and a 9-year-old girl. The boy taken to Fort Wayne is 11 years old. That boy suffered many broken bones.

The students attended a school in the Tippecanoe Valley School District. The corporation released the following statement:

“Our school corporation has suffered a tragedy this morning. We have learned of three student fatalities and one student seriously injured and airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital as they were hit by a vehicle while boarding their bus.

“We have deployed all school counselors to meet the emotional needs of our staff, students and parents.

“We are awaiting to learn more confirmed details but wish to ask the community to come together to pray for the families, our students and our staff.”

The driver, a 24-year-old woman, is cooperating with police. The bus arm was out when the crash happened, police say.

She’ll get off. Her Family is involved in local car dealerships. No doubt about it. She’s already home on minimal bail.

Wouldn’t even want to think about a death of one of my sons. Many thoughts and prayers to their family of what they are going through.

Thinking of ways that they can try to stop or at least try to decrease the problems with safety for the kids. One way to get someone’s attention is for the bus’s to pull in the middle of the road and if they didn’t stop hopefully they’d hit the bus the hard way and only the bus. Either that or they’ll have to make the bus routes that the kids get on and off the same side of the door is on to help protect them. Need to find a way of stopping this destruction of people’s lives who are hurt or killed. Need an increase in teaching of bus safety, increase in questioning on testing for a driver’s license, public service announcements on TV, whatever helps. Need to listen to the parents if they see a problem that needs resolved and do something, they are the one’s who live at the spot and know what it’s like better than someone who drives through a couple of times a day.

Three children’s death and another child that was hurt and has a long road of healing ahead of him, mentally and physically is so sad to think of. Even to think of their parents, driver and other children that were on the bus of what they saw, they will need help. Changes need to be done for the future to do whatever is the safest for children.

Can you believe that some bonehead down-voted your statement? Makes me wonder how twisted some people’s minds are, when they can find fault with such a cogent statement such as yours. Smh!

Rampant cellphone use. New cars being advertised with computer screens in the dashboard. Laws which are intentionally ineffectual so as not to offend voters. Why then are we surprised when people hit schoolchildren waiting for buses, or more and more cars hit buildings or cross into other lanes or drive in the wrong lane?

How heartbreaking!! How do you NOT see a STOPPED BUS?? Looked like a pretty rural area so I’d think it would stand out a bit!! She must have really been into that phone conversation. SO MANY clueless and selfish people in this world. Only thing that matters to them is themselves. No safety for others. Disgusting.

I live near a bus stop and you would not believe how many people do not stop for these buses ….. they have THEIR needs that have to be met first don’t you know …… they heck with school kids I guess. I’ve heard of these ignorant SOBs yelling things at people that are telling them to stop! There needs to be cameras on these buses that will pick up the front and rear of these peoples vehicles. People need to get their heads out of their rear ends, especially during the peak hours that school kids are coming and going to school. Does this person travel these routes every damn morning and knows about these bus stops?

Did she get her text out before impact? UNBELIEVABLE! Start treating cellphone usage harsher than DUI’s. ENOUGH! More people are dying every year from a cellphone compared to that of a bottle.

does it say she was using a phone? maybe she was doing makeup or hair, or eating breakfast, or like most people on the roads still sleeping as they cruise in their death machines
