Some Verizon Wireless customers in our area experienced a service outage on Sunday.
The widespread outage began around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Verizon issued this statement Monday:
Verizon Wireless experienced an interruption in service for customers in parts of Northeast Pennsylvania last night (Sunday).
It was caused by the rare occurrence of a dual fiber ring failure – two separate fiber issues on different lines – impacting the redundancy built into our network that ensures service despite equipment failures.
Engineers were able to restore most services before 11 p.m. Sunday. As of Monday at 10 a.m. everything is working as it should.
