Protesters gathered across the country for a "Tax March," demanding President Trump release his tax returns.

NEW YORK — Protesters in cities across the country came out Saturday to call on President Trump to release his tax returns.

Demonstrators came out in large numbers in about 200 other cities, including a few outside the U.S., according to organizers.

Images of tax protesters in cities including Washington, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York flooded social media.

Trump has said that Americans “don’t care at all” about his tax returns, but polls show 74% of Americans say he should release them.

Many lawmakers, including some Republicans, have also called on him to make them public. And a petition demanding that Trump release his returns has garnered more than 1 million signatures.

Also on Saturday, a rally in Berkeley, California, that brought out supporters and opponents of President Trump turned violent, resulting in more than a dozen arrests, officials said.

That rally was about free speech, according to local news reports. A couple people were injured, Berkeley Police spokesman Byron White told CNN.

For the past 40 years, every U.S. president and presidential candidate has released tax documents.

Still, the White House has not indicated Trump has any intentions of releasing his returns. So Trump critics are prepared to make some noise.

“We march to demand that the president release his returns, as he has repeatedly promised, but failed, to do,” the Tax March website reads. “We march because it is in the best interest of the American people to know what financial entanglements and conflicts of interest our leaders have.”

Much like the “Pussyhats” symbolized by the Women’s March in January, the hallmark of this protest are giant inflatable chickens.

On Saturday morning, chickens could be spotted on the steps of the Capitol building and outside the Trump Hotel. Thirty-foot inflatable chickens will also go up at the marches in New York City and San Francisco, according to Kevin Donohoe, a Tax March organizer.

The inflatable chickens were designed in Hong Kong to celebrate the Year of the Rooster, and they were purposely made to resemble Trump this year. Organizers for Tax March San Francisco discovered the chicken and re-dubbed it “Chicken Don” to poke fun at the President for being too afraid to release his tax returns. Since then it’s spread across the country with dozens of marches purchasing chickens, Donohoe said.

‘Muh Russia’ is dead in the water so now it’s on to President Trump’s tax returns. LOL at the lefties!

  • John

Who cares about his tax returns…this country is in a whole lot of S**T. I’m more concerned about jobs, and a million other things.

  • Lloyd Schmucatelli

The funny thing is that these idiots think they could even begin to comprehend Trump’s tax return.

I’ll let you in on a little secret folks, it’s a little more complicated than a w-2 1040ez tax return filed at H&R Block.

The libtards will scream that he only paid X% in taxes while the business owners will wonder how he made so much and saved so much in taxes. They’ll want the secrets!

I would want to know how he saved so much. I wouldn’t care what he paid in.

    Maybe he got a refund!!!

Oh wouldn’t that burn their asses!!

    • A2B2C

NO ONE cares whether he got a refund or didn’t pay taxes so move on from that rhetoric!!! What’s he afraid of if no one could understand his return? If tax information doesn’t coincide with what he put on the government forms filed to run for public office there’s definitely a yuuuuuge problem with those type discrepancies. Also, his investments, loans, businesses and where they are and who has them are of major interest these days!!

  • Writer Girl

This country has so many serious problems but this is what people care about. Sad, how dumb Americans are.

  • Tire Old Voter

Another Soros operation. The only people who care about the President`s tax returns are the Democrates who still can`t believe they lost the election. One of the left wing liberal media stations had a big breaking news story in that they got hold of some of President Trump`s tax returns and the story was —— He paid 25 % which is more than other presidents payed which only goes to show this is all abount the left wing liberal agenda who really do not care about facts but just dividing the Country, stomping their collective feet, throwing temper tantrums and making unfounded accusations based on fake news. Stand by Democrates. We are in the process of taking our Country back and I for the first time in my life am proud of my President and my Country!

Once in a while you may wish to look around and see if you’ve actually persuaded anyone. One thing is predictable, whatever Trump does, the left will always be there to complain about it. W was so far to the left, he supported Hillary, and yet, they hated him.

      • A2B2C

Yeah, but the famous Flip Flop President Trump told Romney to release his when he was running for President. Now he won’t release his. WHY? Because he doesn’t have to isn’t good enough!!! What’s good for goose is good for the gander!!!

      • Silverfish Imperetrix

No, that was Harry Reid telling bald-faced lies from the protection of the Senate Floor, which was his stock-in-trade.

    • WarningFakeNews

Let’s tackle “crazy” or “stupid” first. Was it crazy or stupid? He got elected, that was his objective. How about illegal? Well, it wasn’t illegal not to disclose his tax returns, and he did disclose those things he had to, otherwise we’d be hearing about it in the media, wouldn’t we? Was that sinister? He didn’t organize or run his life with the thought of what would look good or wouldn’t look good to voters because he wasn’t a politician. Nothing sinister about that, most of us don’t do that, do we?

His Teflon is made out of this: We’ve seen how many good and decent candidates we’ve lost, falling for the sensationalizing, the lying, and the false indignation of the left, been there, done that, not doing it again.

  • Jeff Woehrle

President Trump’s effective rate of 25 percent was higher than the rate paid by former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, according to “leaked” tax returns aired by MSDNC.

  • WarningFakeNews

Not much of a genuine movement, is it? If CNN wanted to report the story accurately, it would point out that the “protesters” were actually being paid to protest by Soros. At least, in that one sense- they’re employed now. Still, we ought to give Trump credit for being the reason they’re employed. MAGA!

    • WarningFakeNews

They thought it would matter to enough people to keep him from getting elected. They were wrong. It still only matters to them, and the fact that they believe this has any affect at all on him is priceless.

To have a great time remembering just how wrong they all can be, just watch the videos of people laughing at him when he announced his interest in running. The most delicious laughter is when Ann Coulter announced- I think on The View, who had the best chance of winning, and she said, “Of the declared ones? Donald Trump.”

      Payback is, well, you know.

lazy WNEP now runs CNN WIRE stories all the time along with their daily hit piece on Trump at 4:54 each day Monday through Friday- also CNN. . . lazy and cheap way to do “news”

  • Jeff Woehrle

Liberals snowflakes “demand” that President Trump release his taxes.
There is nothing funnier than ignorant, irrelevant losers.
