WILLIAMSPORT — A man has died after crashing his motorcycle in Williamsport.

The coroner says Eric McElrath, 26, hit a light pole on Market Street. He was thrown from the bike and was taken to the hospital.

McElrath was pronounced dead at the hospital around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the coroner.

According to state police reports, he was driving at an excessive rate of speed. Once again, it’s the motorcyclist who’s at fault. But all we see are signs saying “watch out for motorcycles, they’re everywhere!” rather than “Motorcycles, please slow down and drive the speed limit like everyone else has to”. This accident was 100% avoidable if he would have just obeyed the law.

Constantly I hear the loud revs and taking off of crotch rockets (and ricers sometimes) either down 3rd street or on the highway near the bridge. Wonder if this was the noise I heard saturday?
