It’s unlikely anyone who knows anything about the shooting will help the police. The illegal drug industry is one of Williamsport’s major economic activities. Shooting people is part of the business model.

Interesting, I live right in the “ghetto” and apparently don’t have the same thoughts as folks who’ve already commented. There are bad eggs everywhere, including out in the sticks and trailer parks, they just get less attention than the “urban” incidents. I wonder why that is?

Jessica, you can have your own thoughts, but we all face the same reality. Williamsport is a regional center of the drug trade that current plagues our state and country. Violence is a part of its culture.

That said, the impact of illegal drug use and addiction is not just a problem of the cities any more. But here in Lycoming County the majority of arrests for major drug crime have been in the immediate Williamsport area.

Really? Could be there’s a larger population in the Williamsport, perhaps? I would have to look stats up though, because the meth labs are usually away from the city. Muncy/Hughesville area seems to be getting in on the action quite a bit too…. As for my own “thoughts”, how about experiences (or lack of) in what is considered one of “bad” parts of town, near the hospital. What you read on the news isn’t an accurate representation of things. Studies have been done that the world viewed through that narrow window gives you a skewed version of reality. If news reported things fairly, it would have to report how many planes took off and landed with out incident compared to how many crashed…. but that wouldn’t get ratings now would it? Neither would how many in Williamsport haven’t been shot daily…..

It’s unlikely anyone who knows much about it will willingly talk with the police. A large part of the Williamsport population won’t, out of antipathy for the authorities, or fear of retaliation from elements of the local drug culture that is well-entrenched in the city. The illegal drug trade is one of Williamsport’s major economic activities, and shooting people, or threatening to, is part of the business model.
