One Killed, Two Hurt in Crash

SPRING TOWNSHIP — One man is dead and two others were hurt after a crash in Snyder County.

According to state police, the crash happened along Route 235 near Beaver Springs around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

Troopers said the driver of a pickup truck lost control on a curve and hit a utility pole. The pickup then rolled over. One of the passengers, Rick Steffen, 25, of Middleburg, was killed.

The driver, Travis Renninger, 21, of Beavertown, and another passenger, Matthew Yakamook, 23, of Beaver Springs, were hurt. There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

Investigators said Steffen and Yakamook were not wearing seatbelts.
