MOOSIC -- The voting polls opened at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and in one part of Lackawanna County, it has been a steady flow in and out all day long.

People streamed into the Greenwood Hose Company along Birney Avenue in Moosic at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The line started forming more than a half hour before the polls opened.

It was nonstop activity, and it didn't take long for the numbers to pile up.

Robert Scotti of Moosic was voter number 57 in his precinct. He said, "This is nice, in a small community, to see there's a lot of activity."

Some many people showed up to vote right after the polls opened at 7 a.m. They occasionally ran out of places for people to sit and fill out their ballots.

The early opening numbers even surprised Representative Matt Cartwright. He said, "I don't remember the last time in had to wait in line when I got here, at 20 after 7 in Moosic."

Cartwright, who voted with his family Tuesday morning, is seeking his third term. It's a little different this time. Cartwright is now a member of the Powerful House Appropriations Committee.

Cartwright added, "Priority number one is jobs. We have to get high paying family-sustaining jobs in our area."

Speaking of jobs, Kathy Boyle has one on Tuesday. She is a judge of election in Moosic's fourth precinct.

When asked about talk of a rigged Election raised by Republican Donald Trump, Boyle said, "I do get insulted because I know my girls do everything right and Ido know the girls over there do everything right. For people to say it's rigged, I don't know how."

Boyle added she is the voice of experience. She has been Judge of Election here in Moosic since 1978.

Here is just some of what we've learned Tuesday morning:

  • A polling place in Dunmore had 60 people in line at 7 a.m.
  • There was a line at a polling place in Lake Winola, and that was new to the people there.
  • Some people in Jackson Township, Luzerne County waited nearly an hour to vote Tuesday morning.
  • Just a short time ago, 100 people were in line to vote at a polling place in Mountain Top.
