LUZERNE COUNTY -- Authorities in Luzerne County are investigating a suspicious death and a suspected arson.
Fire crews were called to a home along Prospect Street in Wilkes-Barre just before 6pm Sunday. A 31 year old man was found dead inside the home. Investigators have not released the victim's name.
Fire officials have also not said what started the fire, but police believe it may have been intentionally set.
Authorities also learned a man was seen leaving the Prospect Street home, just before the fire was discovered.
In a separate incident in Rice Township, near Nuangola, a man was taken into custody after a stand off with police.
According to authorities, the man refused to get out of his vehicle along Burma Road. He was eventually taken into custody by police.
Officers would not say if there is a connection to the fire in Wilkes-Barre, but officers in Rice Township told Newswatch 16 Wilkes-Barre police have taken over the investigation.
An autopsy is set on the body found inside the burning home along Prospect Street.
Authorities will only say charges are pending following the incidents in Luzerne County.
