When the Viewmont Mall in Lackawanna County opened in 1968, one of the main anchor stores was Sears.
For more than four decades, Sears brought business to the shopping center.
As of Monday, the department store in the mall is officially closed for good.
If you are driving by the Viewmont Mall, you’ll see Sears and Sears Auto Center closed!
The retail giant announced earlier this year that declining business forced the anchor store to shut its doors at this location.
However, it was a much different story for the Sears at the Viewmont Mall back in the 90's.
At that time, the corporation called this Sears one of its most profitable stores in the country.
In 1993, the retailer put a lot of money into a big expansion project.
