SCRANTON -- Hillary Clinton's event Friday in Scranton with Vice President Biden has been postponed.

The Clinton campaign has postponed Friday's event due to the tragic shootings in Dallas, Texas.

Biden and Clinton were expected to speak at Riverfront Sports Complex at noon.

Instead, many supporters showed up to find it called off. Most were disappointed but understanding.

There were still t-shirt sales underway outside Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton but no rally for Hillary Clinton supporters to wear them.

"It was 154 miles, but I came because I am a Democrat and I support Hillary Clinton," said Salome Johnson of York, Pennsylvania.

Some came from far away, others close by.  All were turned away.

Inside, the stage was set and ready to go for Clinton and the vice president.

A crew from Lake Sheridan came with signs ready but had to take them home.

"Oh, we were so disappointed," said Darien McElwain.  "We drove up and they said it had been canceled because of what happened in Dallas and I sort of thought that might happen, but we're heartbroken because we were so excited."

"We were really looking forward to Hillary and Joe," said Alana Haag of York, Pennsylvania. "It's really unfortunate that these things are happening in our country."

Instead of a big campaign rally, there was just a sign on the door saying the event had been postponed.

And instead of a big speech from Hillary Clinton, there was just a tweet from her saying she mourns for the officers shot doing their sacred duty protecting peaceful protesters.

"Hoping she would be there with Biden and she would be giving us guidance about this particular situation that we're in, that the country's in," said Joyce Morgan of Bushkill.

"I think Hillary can bring some moderation to this contentious debate," said Peter Newton of Macungie.

But as people were turned away, most seemed to understand.

"She will reschedule, I can guarantee you that, that's she's going to come back and come back strong and come back with guidance and we're going to move past this," Morgan added.

"We're sad but the second she comes back, we're going to see her," said McElwain.

The Clinton campaign called this a postponement but no new date or time has been scheduled yet.
