SALEM TOWNSHIP – There was a special benefit race for local veterans in Wayne County.

Local veterans group Vetstock hosted its Firecracker 100 at the Hamlin Speedway Saturday evening.

All of the money raised will go to Vetstock to help local veterans and American  Legions in the area.

Folks could enjoy prize drawings, a Chinese auction, plenty of food, and of course high speed, dirt track racing.

"We never knew about the Hamlin Speedway. It's a fantastic venue. It's something we've never done,” said Thomas Ryan, the Executive Director of Vetstock.

Folks who showed their military ID were granted free admission to the event in Wayne County.
