WILLIAMSPORT -- After nearly a year of hammering away, the three-story Trade and Transit Centre 2 building in Williamsport is almost complete.
"It's about two months from being completed, but we are about 80-85 percent from being completed, so we are almost at the end of the line," said Bill Nichols.
The Trade and Transit Centre 2 is an expansion to the already existing River Valley Transit's bus terminal on West Third Street. It's set to officially open in August.
"I'm interested to see what it's going to look like when it gets open," said Richard Wright.
And so are other people, it's why Newswatch 16 took a peek inside.
"The public traffic will flow through this main entrance," said David Witmer.
Construction manager David Witmer showed us around and gave us a look at the future transit scoop.
"It's a convenient store where people can pick up drinks, snacks while waiting for the buses," said Witmer.
The second floor will be home to the Uptown Music Collective.
"This will actually be a recording studio,” said Witmer.
The third floor will be open to the public for meetings, weddings, and social events.
Outside, big cement blocks which are from the old parking garage will be part of the new landscape. They are put in place to help remind people of what was here before this new building.
River Valley Transit also plans to add 40 new parking spaces behind the building and there will be 12 buses running instead of eight.
The building and the new buses are a welcomed upgrade for folks like Richard Wright from Williamsport.
"The more the better it's going to help us," said Wright.
Bus riders will have to wait a few months to get a look inside the building. The grand opening is set for August 26. It is right around the same time as the Little League World Series.
