Animal Lovers Wanted!

As summer break heats up for many around our area, a number of animal shelters across Northeastern & Central Pennsylvania say this is the time of year they could use a boost in volunteers.  Many of their regulars are often on vacation and even shelter donations such as cat litter dwindle over the summer season.

Newswatch 16's Ryan Leckey visited the SPCA of Luzerne County this morning near Wilkes-Barre.  Workers at the place in Plains Township say more animal lovers are wanted not only to adopt, but also to support the shelter's needs.

To help alleviate some of the summer struggles the SPCA of Luzerne County faces, some area bikers have launched a "pet project" of their own to give back!  The Wyoming Valley Motorcycle Club is gearing up for its 20th annual ride to benefit the SPCA of Luzerne County.  For more information, check out the flier below.   To see the SPCA of Luzerne County's donation wish list, click here!

Want to actually make a difference? Lobby for mandatory chipping that contains the owners personal contact info. Prosecute severely for people who just toss their animals in the street.
