SUNBURY -- The state auditor general plans to audit the prothonotary's office in Northumberland County starting next month.

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale announced the planned audit Friday.

This comes after the prothonotary, Justin Dunkelberger, was charged with theft.

The clerk of the court and adult probation department will also undergo an audit.

Dunkelberger was charged in February with stealing more than $12,000 from a scholarship fund in Northumberland County.

The audit is expected to begin in May and cover January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2015.
