HANOVER TOWNSHIP -- Police in Luzerne County say a shooting victim gave them false information about when and where he was shot, even lying to them about his name.

On the day after Christmas, Hanover Township police talked with a man who identified himself as Alex Lopez of Queens, New York. Lopez claimed he had been shot in the leg and hand during a robbery outside an apartment complex. Someone drove Lopez to the hospital and workers there called police.

Hanover Township police now say that Lopez's real name is Junior Garcia and he lives in Hazleton. Their investigation revealed that Garcia was one of two people shot on Christmas night in the area of 9th and Locust streets in Hazleton. A 17-year-old boy was also shot and had to be taken to the hospital.

Hanover Township police say they are considering whether to charge Garcia with lying to them about the alleged robbery.
