She bakes all her desserts with an extra cup of love. Tina Profka is the Baklava Lady and she shows us how to make this perfect holiday treat. The Baklava Lady will be taking orders for the holidays.
Baklava: filling and syrup are separate
1 package Phylo dough
1 1/2 sticks of melted butter
cookie sheet with deep lip
filling: MIX ALL IN BOWL AND KEEP ON SIDE
1/2 cup sugar
2 cp chopped nuts
few dashes of cinnamon
syrup: MIX ALL IN SAUCE PAN AND KEEP ON SIDE
1 cp water
3/4 cp honey
3/4 cp sugar
- Layer sheets of phylo brushing with butter in between each sheet, when you get half way through box, you will add your filling. Continue on with remaining layers.
- Set oven to 350 degrees
- Use knife to cut phyllo into desired size/shape
- Put syrup on to boil and put baklava into oven, set timer for 16-18 minutes. While it is baking bring syrup to boil while stirring constantly. Once it reaches a boil, turn to simmer for remainder of cooking time
- As soon as baklava is done, take syrup and pour over entire pan, cool before eating
