SUGAR RUN -- For some businesses in Bradford County, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Thanksgiving is still a week away, but people are already out buying up some Christmas cheer, including Christmas trees.

For tree farm owner Richard Yadlosky, the buzz of his chainsaw is the sound of the holiday season. He typically opens the Sugar Bend Tree Farm near Wyalusing for business the day after Thanksgiving, but this year, he's already got an order a week before Thanksgiving.

“We went out and cut 10 trees. This gentleman is opening a new business in the Wysox area and he wanted some trees to have displayed there this weekend,” said Yadlosky.

Once those trees are cut and wrapped, they'll be on sale at the recently opened David's Florist and More on Route 6 in Wysox.

Owner David Bomboy says he ordered a total of 50 trees from Sugar Bend and has more trees coming in from other farms.

“Well, I'm going to be having trees Monday for sale, I'm picking them up Sunday afternoon,” said Bomboy. “I've got 50 to start with, Douglas Firs. Then Thanksgiving Day, I'm going to pick up another 100.”

Bomboy says he has customers already coming in specifically for Christmas items and that's good for business.

“I've actually had people wanting poinsettias already. I've sold a couple wreaths. I've got some Christmas arrangements actually for Thanksgiving,” said Bomboy.

For Yadlosky, although his Bradford County farm is relatively small, he says he'll probably sell about 300 trees. And he and other tree farmers feel this is going to be a good selling season.

“Well, the ones I've talked to they're looking for a very good year. We had a sufficient rain this summer to give us some adequate growth,” said Yadlosky.
