MINERSVILLE -- A haunted house in Minersville will have you screaming.

For 18 years, Jamie Kuhen and his family have hosted a haunted house in the Schuylkill County community. It's free and one night only.

This year, the family realized they could scare people and raise some money.

"We have an established attraction and we thought why not use that attraction to help someone in need," said Kuehn.

100 percent of the donations from the scream team on Carbon Street will go to Sarah Ricigliano. She's a junior at Minersville Area High School and was diagnosed with a brain tumor earlier this month.

"She's usually quiet. She has a great personality. She's a wonderful girl," said Mallory Ebert, a Minersville Area junior.

A lot of Sarah's classmates also volunteer at the haunted house.

"It's just really nice to see everyone come together and support her," said Abby Schoffstall, a Minersville Area junior.

"I'm glad that we're giving it to somebody who actually needs it and appreciates it," Gabriel Kuehn said Minersville Area freshman.

The theme of the haunted house this year is scary clowns, but when people take off the mask they may look familiar to people who live in the Minersville area.

"We have our local superintendent Carl McBreen who is going to add another demotion to our program this year," said Kuehn.

McBreen says he's seen the community come together for the Ricigliano family.

He'll be playing the role of a crazy clown teacher at the haunted house to help out.

"It makes me very proud as superintendent to see our students react they way they have. It's been outstanding," said McBreen.

That haunted house on Carbon Street in Minersville ran until 9 p.m. Thursday.

We're told the event raised $921.
