WEST PENN TOWNSHIP -- A mother is behind bars in Schuylkill County, accused of trying to drown her 1-month-old child.
Police say Rachel Foose, 32, of West Penn Township tried to drown her infant in a bathtub at her home on Golf Road Friday morning.
Investigators said the child's grandmother showed up at the home and called police.
When officers got to the house, Foose was sitting on the porch and told them she did it because she "couldn't handle it," police said.
According to police, the baby's father left to get formula and said everything seemed fine.
The little girl was taken to the hospital and police said she is recovering.
Foose faces a slew of charges, including attempted murder and is locked up on $500,000 bail.
