Bob Simons went straight from Bloomsburg University to Wallenpaupack Middle School school in 1970 at the ripe age of 21.
Simons coached the girls' basketball team, then swung into golf.
Bob was a school teacher for 35 years, but teaching golf well that's harder to shake than a bad slice.

"I was also involved in golf when I turned 21, so if you do your math, I've been doing it for 45 years coaching golf here at Wallenpaupack."
"Good shot! You're not going to get to many pars on this hole.  This is a tough hole."

From tee to green, Bob is stoic when watching his team.  But like a bad poker player, Simons shows his nerves in more subtle ways.

"You always know when he's nervous about stuff because he'll jingle the change in his pocket or give you a look.  You always know when it's time to get serious and get the job done, but it's a lot of fun playing for him.  He has a lot to tell you and teach about and he's a great coach," said Molly Mowatt, Wallenpaupack senior.

Bob has totalled up a lot of winning memories over the last 45 years, but winning the Lackawanna League Championship against Abington Heights on Wednesday was one to remember.

"Oh! Yea it was! You know, with these guys putting and with Molly up there I was nervous!  It's a tough time when you have a two footer and you have a lot of negative things going through your mind, but Molly definitely had a positive thought and if you have the confidence in anything, you can do well."
"He always talks about some not so good memories that he has and he always remembers the names and remembers the moments that things could've gone better and I didn't want to be added to that list so it was really a good feeling."

Bob has been shadowing his golfers since the year Phil Mickelson was born and for Simons, it don't mean a thing if they ain't got that swing.
