PALMYRA TOWNSHIP -- Troopers in part of the Poconos are asking folks to be on the lookout for a man they say has been acting suspicious.
As the cars and trucks whiz by on Route 507 near along Lake Wallenpaupack, there's one vehicle that has state police on the lookout.
A blue Dodge Durango has been spotted at crash and fire scenes and within the last week, troopers said the driver stopped a few women who were jogging along the road and confronted them saying they couldn't run there.
“That’s really crazy and creepy. I don’t like it at all,” said Carol Franey of Lakeville.
Especially since the driver, a man in his 30s, claimed he was with the local ambulance company and officials say he's not. A concerned parent of one of those joggers described the encounter to officials to the Tafton Fire Company.
“She tried to step around him, he stepped in front of her. She stepped back and he stepped towards her. It made her feel uncomfortable,” said Assistant Fire Chief Mike Miller.
The vehicle has New York plates and a blue light on the dash, according to state police which could give the impression the driver might be an EMS volunteer, but one thing’s sure: he’s not a member of Tafton.
“It’s got us all concerned. We’re all worried about the public and ourselves as well,” added Miller.
Members of the fire and ambulance companies have license plates that indicate they’re from Tafton as well as ID cards. While it's not clear what the suspicious man is up to, some said it's important to stay cautious.
“We need to watch our surroundings at all times. Pay attention to the people around us and not trust people right off the bat,” said Tonya Schuman of Lakeville.
