SCRANTON -- It was a fiery night in Scranton Friday.

Newswatch 16 stopped by the Iron Furnaces in Scranton's south side. Folks gathered for the Fire at the Furnace event. An iron pour demonstration lit up the night.

The event kicked off the Arts on Fire Festival, which first began in 2009. The festival raises money to support the Anthracite Heritage Museum and Iron Furnace Associates.

The furnaces were used for metalworking in the 1800s.

Events are planned for Saturday and Sunday as well.

The three-day event held the first weekend in June celebrates the arts, heritage, industry, and community.
