PALMYRA TOWNSHIP -- With temperatures near 80 degrees, people like Marty O'Horo of Greentown were out soaking up the sun Monday.

Marty and his wife Diane live just about four miles from Promised Land State Park in Pike County.

The couple has been waiting months for the temperatures to rise and the sun to come out so they could strap on their helmets and hit the bike trails.

"It's wonderful.  It's one of those things where we looked at the weather last night. My wife was scheduled to be off and I took the day off so we can be together," O'Horo said.

"I'll tell you what, we had cabin fever for the longest time so it's really great to get out.  I could be home doing things at the house, but no, I'd rather be out riding my bike right now.  It's just a fantastic day," said Diane Sarday of Greentown.

Many people who decided to spend their day at the park say they've been waiting months for this kind of weather and are happy to finally be able to grab their suits and hit the water.

"Take advantage of the beautiful weather while we have it, after the winter we had. So it's a gorgeous day to do that," said Meagen Szymanski of Greentown.

Meagen Szymanski of Greentown and her three kids spent the day playing in the sand and dipping their toes in the water. Szymanski tells Newswatch 16 the kids have been cooped up all winter and it's nice to see them playing outside again.

"It's just perfect because the kids get to run and be free and explore and it's just wonderful to have them out and playing together," Szymanski said.

"Can't wait to bring my kayak up and get out on the lake to do some swimming and just looking forward to the summer," said Diane Davis of Throop.

That’s something that just about everyone at the park agreed on.
