UPDATE (March 25) -- The students have received postcards from all 50 states.

TAMAQUA -- Mrs. Barron's third grade class at Tamaqua Area Elementary is learning all about the land of the free.

During social studies, the students are getting a glimpse into the different regions across the United States.

"We learn about the landmarks and stuff. It's really cool," said student Delia Coggiano, a student at Tamaqua elementary.

"I just think it's fun learning about the different states," said Ethan Dibonifazio, a third grade student.

But with a nation so big, the teacher at the school in Schuylkill County said it's hard to teach everything.

"We study the regions, but we don't get to go into detail about each state," said Jolene Barron.

Snow days have also put a limit on the curriculum this year.

Barron said, "We've missed a lot of social studies classes because of the two-hour delays, so we're kind of under a crunch time right now."

So, Barron came up with an idea.

She hopes that people from all over the country can send her class postcards explaining a little bit about the state they live in, from sea to shining sea.

"A lot of these kids have never been out of the state, so it would be really nice for them to get more information and learn more," said Barron.

The students in Mrs. Barron's class are still waiting for those postcards from all 50 states, but some of the students have decided they would already like to go visit some other places.

Coggiano said, "Florida. Because then I would get to go to Disney!"

Students in Tamaqua also said if the people who send post cards want more information on the Keystone State, they can do that, too.

"Pennsylvania is a very good state and everybody is really nice here," said Dibonifazio.

The class hopes to get cards from all 50 states before the end of the school year. You can send a
