LUZERNE COUNTY -- Some believe voter turnout will be low for this Election Day.

That could have an impact on a hotly contested battle for a seat in the state house of representatives in Luzerne County.

On the eve of Election Day, campaign signs are few and far in between in many communities in the Wyoming Valley's west side.

Eileen Cipriani, the Democratic candidate running for state representative of the 120th district did not let the projections keep her from knocking on doors.

"It is discouraging, but were trying our best. We`re knocking on every door. We're trying to tell everybody, 'Listen, this is really important. It's an important election for the state of Pennsylvania and you need to get out there and vote,'" said Cipriani.

While Cipriani hit the roads of West Wyoming, we found her opponent, Republican Aaron Kaufer, in his campaign office in Kingston working the phones with volunteers.

"I'm calling people, getting ready here. We're in the final push and excited for tomorrow," Kaufer said.

Even with the governor's seat up for grabs, Kaufer does not expect to see many people at the polls.

"I think people are fed up with the negative advertising that`s going on right now. I think they're looking for something positive, someone to lead them in a new direction. I think that has really driven down voter interest in the election right now," Kaufer said.

"We're looking at property taxes. We're looking at education. We're looking at bringing jobs to this area. That`s my priorities," Cipriani said.

Both candidates say they're ready to fill the shoes of Phyllis Mundy, a Democrat who has held the seat in Harrisburg and is about to retire after 24 years.
