PITTSTON TOWNSHIP — A company in Luzerne County that makes air filters told workers on Thursday that the place is closing.

Officials at Clarcor Air Filtration said that around 60 employees were notified that they were let go, and the facility near Pittston that manufactures air filters is being shut down.

Most of the workers were let go immediately.  Corporate officials say a few will stay for a few weeks until the facility shuts down for good.

According to Clarcor, they opened up in the Pittston area about a decade ago, but business didn’t pick up as expected and they were losing money by keeping that facility open.

Did they receive any tax breaks to open their facility? If so, were any conditions placed upon the company when they accepted these breaks? Were those conditions ever met?
